Welcome to ISMAR 2021
ISMAR is planning a Hybrid Conference in Bari, Italy

Given the recent advances with worldwide vaccinations and the ability to travel between countries, ISMAR is happy to announce that we are planning a hybrid conference in Bari. A hybrid conference means that we will have face-to-face presentations, posters, demos, exhibitors, cultural and social visits, as well as some capabilities to participate remotely. The details of how to participate will be posted on the ISMAR website.

Is it safe to travel to Italy given COVID?

Yes, since 21 June 2021, all Italian regions are classified as a white zone -- the lowest risk level. The Italian government is allowing travel for conferences and tourism. It is a very encouraging trajectory, and caution and prudence are still needed.

Why attend ISMAR?

IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) is a flagship conference (CORE 2018 A* rating) that explores the advances in research and commercial activities related to AR, MR, and Virtual Reality (VR).  ISMAR is setting new standards and trends with wide-ranging, creative, innovative, and highly technical content (see example 2020 program at ).

ISMAR 2021 will be hosted in Bari (Puglia, Italy) between October 4 and 8. The city is a well-connected tourist location in the Italian landscape (on the lovely Adriatic Sea), with a mild climate full of attractions, cultural landmarks. Visitors of the city enjoy the food specialties and the wine, oil, and fresh fruits and vegetables.

We actively monitor the COVID-19 situation to determine if the in-person ISMAR experiences will be safe and possible given International travel rules. In the event that we must host ISMAR in a complete virtual/online format, we will notify the community by the end of July.
